A Goal is anything that you would like to do or achieve.

For example, you might want to be able to run 10kms
without stopping. That would be your goal. So, to do
this, you will need to train. You will have to practice
your running every day, do stretches and only eat
healthy food. Then, with time and practice,
you will be able to achieve your goal.

                   Learning to cook
                 Getting fit
                  Writing a story
Making new friends
Teaching your little brother or sister something fun and new
Reading a book
Learning to play an instrument
Playing sports in a team
Getting better grades at school
Learning a new skill
Saving money to buy something special

After you have set your goal, you need to take action to
achieve it. Write your goal down. Then write a list of things
you can do to help you achieve your goal.
This would be your "Plan".  It might look like this:

To get better Grades at School

1. Ask the teacher for extra help with things I don't understand
2. Ask a student who is good with the lessons to study with me
3. Spend extra time at home studying
4. Keep trying and stay positive

If you need some help coming up with
a
Plan, you can ask an adult for help or even get
on
the Uniting Kids Message Board and ask the
other
kids what ideas they might have to help
you to
achieve your goal.

Achieving goals makes you feel good and helps you to learn,
grow and discover new things. It also teaches you to
develop your talents so you can make a difference in your
life and the lives of others.

Sometimes, when you are trying to achieve a goal,
you may not succeed the first time. Failing is a part
of trying to achieve your goals, so don't worry if it
doesn't happen the first time. Each time you fail,
you learn something new and learn new qualities,
like patience and persistence. You also gain new

knowledge. So failure is a very important and
necessary part of achieving your goals.

Sometimes you will succeed first time and sometimes you won't.
It doesn't matter if you do or don't. What matters is your
attitude. Stay positive, see what you have learnt and look at
the good qualities you have gained through the experience.

The most important part of achieving any
goal is to always share your success and
achievements with others. If you share your
success, you will get a lot more joy from it.
